Chandrayaan-3: ISRO stated on Friday that since its launch on July 14, Chandrayaan-3 has covered about two-thirds of the distance to the Moon. In the past three weeks, ISRO's spacecraft has been moving away from Earth in various orbits.
Chandrayaan-3 is rapidly progressing towards the Moon's direction, ready to reach its border. It has already determined its position at a distance of more than two-thirds between Earth and the Moon and will attempt to enter the Moon's orbit on Saturday. Chandrayaan-3 was launched from Satish Dhawan Space Centre on July 14.
The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) said on Friday that since its launch on July 14, Chandrayaan-3 has covered about two-thirds of the distance to the Moon. In the past three weeks, ISRO's spacecraft has been moving away from Earth in various orbits. The space agency stated that on August 1, the spacecraft was successfully sent from Earth's orbit towards the Moon.
The headquarters of the agency in Bengaluru informed on Friday that after the Trans-Lunar Injection, Chandrayaan-3 has avoided Earth's orbit and has started moving on a trajectory that will take it around the region near the Moon. Tomorrow, in another important procedure, the spacecraft will be placed in the Moon's orbit. This is the point from where the Moon's gravity starts to influence the spacecraft. Scientists have high hopes for Chandrayaan-3's successful entry into the Moon's orbit.
ISRO mentioned that the Lunar Orbit Injection (LOI) is scheduled for approximately 7 PM on August 5. This process will be completed when Chandrayaan-3 is closest to the Moon.
